It was the first time ever that Arts professional associations, the Department for Education and Educators SA worked together to run a 2-day conference like this!

More than 120 educators from early, primary and secondary years gathered to focus on how they can support learners to develop their Arts capabilities. Our keynote speakers Robyn Ewing from Sydney University, John Nicholas Saunders from Sydney Theatre Company and Robin Pascoe from Murdoch University definitely left the audience impressed, energised and curious what would come next. The panel on Friday, hosted by ABC’s Amelia Moseley (host of Behind the News), was made up of notables Arts identities sharing their experiences of Arts Education: Award-winning filmmaker Henry Thong, musician Ross McHenry, student Maybelline San Juan from Gleeson College and Filip Odzak, who works in a range of fields including marketing and music direction were just extraordinary.

On Saturday the celebration of Arts continued with a range of practical, educator-led workshops in the areas of Drama, Dance, Music, Media Arts, and Visual Arts, followed by three master classes. “It was definitely a high quality and memorable professional learning event and a great advertisement for Arts education,” said Sharyn Schell, Manager of Arts Projects with the Department for Education!
