Celebrating language & community: SA French Teachers join ‘Prix du Civisme’ Government House launch

So proud to see our member the South Australian French Teachers’ Association being part of a very special launch at Government House! French Teachers in South Australia were recently invited to launch the ‘Prix du Civisme’ in South Australia.

The Prix du Civisme was created in the tradition of the Ordre National du Mérite and established by General de Gaulle in 1963. It recognises students who take civic action to benefit others: supporting the disadvantaged, welcoming refugees, caring for the elderly, protecting the environment or simply performing everyday acts of courage and kindness. It is open to students learning French in primary schools and Alliance Française schools (Years 5 & 6) and in high schools (Years 9 & 10).

The Prix du Civisme launch at Government House brought together education, civic engagement and the French language.

A warm thank you to Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson, Governor of South Australia for her valuable support of the launch.

And a heartfelt thank you to :

– Lyn Tuit GAICD, ONM and the French Association of the Members of the Merit Order (ANMONM) for organising this competition.

– Clémence Semmler from the French Teachers Association

– Marcia McLachan, the French Honorary Consul and former Honorary Consul Sue Crafter for their loyal support.
