OEASA: Kaurna Bush Foods Walk & Talk at Urrbrae Wetlands

Join fellow outdoor educators for an engaging afternoon of learning, discussion, and networking at Urrbrae Agricultural High School’s wetlands.
Guided by guest speaker David Larritt (AAEE Convenor (SA Chapter); HaSS SA President; and retired teacher), participants will explore the rich diversity of Indigenous plants found within the local landscape and gain insight into their traditional uses through Kaurna knowledge and perspectives. This walk-and-talk session will provide an opportunity to deepen your understanding of Country and consider how Indigenous ecological knowledge can be meaningfully incorporated into outdoor learning experiences.
The session will also include discussion around practical strategies for engaging students and groups with Indigenous plant knowledge, bush foods, and cultural connections to place. Whether you’re looking for new ideas for field trips, curriculum integration, or ways to strengthen your practice as an outdoor educator, this will be a valuable opportunity to learn alongside colleagues.
There will also be time to connect and share ideas with other outdoor educators from across South Australia.
