INVESTIGATING HOW MATHEMATICS CHANGES THE WORLD
ESTABLISHING AN INVESTIGATION COMMUNITY

Workshop 1: Discuss, Trial & Plan – Come along to explore hands-on activities designed to support
investigation tasks, share your own investigation tasks and ideas, propose investigations to be developed,
establish development teams, and network with colleagues.
• Workshop 2: Develop & Share– Come along to share and trial developed investigations, share further
ideas, propose next steps, and network with colleagues.
• Ongoing Community: Collaborate & Connect– The long-term aim of this program is to establish a
professional learning community focused on the development and sharing of mathematics investigations
across all year levels. The plan is to create a shared bank of investigations that will be available to members
of the MASA community.
• Workshop Participation – Attendance at both workshops is encouraged by not required. Can’t attend
Workshop 1 but have an established or developing investigation task that you are willing to share? Please
email admin@masanet.com.au with the details. Please note ‘Investigations to Share’ in the subject heading
and include your contact details (Full Name, School, Year Levels Taught, Areas of Interest re Investigation
Topics) in the email. The investigation information you provide will be shared at Workshop 1 with the aim of
connecting your idea with colleagues. Can’t attend Workshop 2? You will be able to support the development
of tasks and continue your involvement through participation in the ongoing professional learning community.
