Association: Orff Schulwerk Association of South Australia (OSASA)

Michael McConnochie is a passionate educator and leader in the arts education community, with over two decades of experience in primary school teaching. For 24 years, he has inspired students as a Performing Arts teacher, bringing creativity, music, and movement into the classroom.

Michael’s commitment to professional leadership is reflected in his long-standing roles beyond the classroom. He served as President of the Orff Schulwerk Association of South Australia (OSASA) for nine years, Orchestra Manager for the Primary Schools Music Festival for a decade, and a university tutor at UniSA for four years—mentoring future educators in the process.

Although currently taking a break from the OSASA Board, Michael remains an active member and brings a wealth of experience and insight to Educators SA. His classroom perspective keeps him connected to the realities educators face, while his interest in technology, social media, and web design adds a contemporary edge to his contributions.

Michael is especially passionate about arts education and its role within curriculum frameworks. He is committed to helping associations thrive through valuable support, stronger networks, and practical leadership. His goal is to better understand and enhance the role Educators SA plays within the association community.

And for a fun twist—Michael has a growing collection of dragon ornaments and figurines, proving his flair for the imaginative doesn’t end at the school gates.
