Karen Inwood studied acting at the Flinders University Drama Centre and Music at the Adelaide University Elder Conservatorium. She began her professional career as an actor, puppeteer and musician. Karen worked in Youth Theatre and was the founder of Tutti Kids and Youth (after school performing arts workshop program for children living with disability). Karen taught at Mitcham Primary School, Wilderness Girls School, Suneden Special School, Prince Alfred College and St John’s Grammar School where she was also a passionate Head of House. Karen began teaching with the UniSA Arts Education team in 2013 and became a fulltime member of UniSA staff in 2017. She has completed a M.Ed. with a focus on drama based pedagogy, creative self-efficacy and pre-service teacher training. in 2020 Karen received the World Education Forum Award (Educators SA).

Karen is the President of Creative Arts Association Australia (CA3), awarded the Educators SA Innovative Association Award in 2022 and became a Board Member of Educators SA (EdSA) in 2021. Karen seeks to foster pre-service students’ confidence and capacity to teach The Arts.
