Mike Chartres has been in education in South Australia for the last thirty eight years. In this time he has worked extensively as a classroom teacher, in school leadership, as a curriculum officer and writer and for the last two decades as an academic in teacher education with the University of South Australia. He brings passion and enthusiasm for his areas of expertise and an outstanding breadth of knowledge and understanding about how to put them into practice in a classroom setting
Visualising and teaching visually – two critical terms in current educational theory around the learning and teaching of mathematics. Visualising involves building mental images and seeing things from different perspectives and it is crucial to thinking and working mathematically. This workshop will allow you to explore what it means to learn and teach through and with visualising and how we can design powerful mathematics investigation using these ideas as a base.
