PETAA: Supporting EAL/D Students in our classrooms: Part Two (Online)

This self-paced professional learning is presented by Dr Jennifer Hammond and Maya Cranitch.
Supporting EAL/D students in our classrooms is a three part course designed to address the contributions and educational needs of diverse EAL/D students in Australian schools, including those who have recently arrived and who may be from refugee backgrounds. Drawing upon principles and practices of EAL/D pedagogy to support mainstream and EAL/D teachers in planning and implementing programs that meet the needs of EAL/D students in mainstream classes, teachers will learn how to identify specific teaching and learning practices that can best support the educational development of their EAL/D students.
Participation in these courses can be one off or done as a series of three separate sessions.
Module two addresses planning and implementing high challenge program that also provide high levels of targeted and differentiated support in response to students’ specific needs. This course is self-paced.
Who should participate?
• Teachers of students in years F–6
• Teachers of EAL/D students, including new arrivals
