PETAA: Putting the Literacy Jigsaw Together
March 19 @ 8:30 am - 3:00 pm$150 – $300
Presented by Dr Bronwyn Parkin. Teachers are presented with many different models representing the reading process and, more generally, models of literacy learning. Each provides different pieces and shapes of the jigsaw that is the reading process.
This workshop aims to make the links between these models, understanding how they help, and their limitations. Time will also be given to exploring how a literature-based literacy program, with due time given to working systematically on both decoding skills and comprehension, can help students to make sense of the jigsaw pieces so that they can see the big picture.
Who should participate?
• Teachers of students in years R-4
• Teachers of EAL/D, ATSI and low socio-economic students
